Fanboys(2008) A ‘Forceful’ Recap

Fanboys is a movie that reminds me of fun times and hanging with my friends. This movie joins other fun/fan favorites like Dazed and Confused, Porkys, all the American Pie films, with just a touch of Star Wars and a smidgen of Star Trek, and we have us a fun movie that reminds us of the movies we loved growing up, the movies we still love and fun times with fun friends.
Four friends decide they want to see Star Wars Episode 1 before it comes out, so they decide to break in Lucas Ranch. Along the way they encounter arch rivals aka Trekkies (but don’t call them that), groups of people you wouldn’t even think of running into and a few obstacles here and there. Seeing them on this journey reminds me of a few of things come of my friends and I have done through the years. The (fan van), well I had a friend that had something like that. All of the collectible, well I still have some of that and I’m still proud of it. The one girl that hangs out with the guys, yeah I can relate sometimes on that one. This is just a really fun movie for the fanboy, all of us can relate in one way or another. Director Kyle Newman did such a great job on this.
Cameos, yes we have cameos and I’m not telling who but it’s quite a few. The characters, the roles the writing and the acting are just awesome. The only thing that was actually missing was George Lucas himself but I will say he was well represented.
Fanboys is just the right recipe, it has humor, it has tragedy(I know ,can you believe it) and it has all the costumed geeks you can ask for. It’s a convention inside a movie. I don’t dress up but i love checking those people at conventions and who knows maybe one day i’ll go get that Stormtrooper costume and join in. This movie put me one step closer in doing that!
If you haven’t seen this yet then what are you waiting for, watch it! Rent it! Buy it! Then tell me what you think! The Force is strong with this movie!(I had to throw that in somewhere).

I loved every second of this movie, waited for years for it to come out then finally got to see it when it was at a theater by me for ONE DAY. Picked it up on DVD the day it came out, everything about this movie was great. Thank you Kevin Smith for making this movie possible after so many studios dropped it!
I loved the movie too! I am a huge SW fan, I love all of the films (yes, even TPM) and this movie captured the hype and anticipation of 1999 perfectly. I too wish that Lucas made a cameo, that would have been great. My favorite part of the film was the last line; there is absolutely no way they could have ended it better. Please, any fanboy who has not seen it yet, please do!
Yes,this is one of my new favorites!
eh…
it was too wrapped up in itself to recognize the absurdity of the main characters, and was too busy reveling in the mediocrity to see any actual character growth, more just stagnation
This movie was incredible. Hilarious! Seth Rogen played a couple characters. He played as a trekkie and played a redneck die hard star wars fan with an anakin and jar jar tattoo on his back.
The main characters were absurd, but wasn't that the point?
Possibly my favorite films of all time, I watched it 3 times in one day.
