It looks like Disney has found a Director for Pirates 4

It is not confirmed yet, but Variety announced today that Disney is close to getting Rob Marshall to direct the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
For those of you who have not heard Gore Verbinski, the original director of the series, is not available to take on the next PoC film because he left to devote his time to Bioshock, which has fallen through. He has since moved on to other projects.
In case you were worried, Johnny Depp will be back as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. As the all knowing Dr. Venkman informed us last year, JD is currently set to star in three upcoming Disney films. First is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The next film is the fourth installment of the PoC franchise. Last, he will be playing Tonto in Disney’s adaptation of The Lone Ranger.
For those of you who don’t know who Rob Marshall is, let me clear this up for you. He directed the Oscar-award winning film Chicago. He is also currently directing the musical Nine starring Daniel Day Lewis.
So, the dude has proved that he knows how to direct a musical, but does that give him the skills to take on one of the most popular franchises in movie history? I’m not too sure. You can call me a pessimist, but they are two totally different ends of the spectrum. I will just have to take it on faith that Disney knows what they are doing.

Marshall has mostly worked in bringing musicals to the big screen, don't worry though, I seriously doubt they will turn the next Pirates film into a musical. I think Marshall is a talented director, he has a great visual eye, so if it is true that he is directing Pirates, then I won't complain I think he will bring something coll and different to the table.

Singing and dancing pirates would be awesome! We all know JD can sing after his role in Sweeney Todd.
i really hope Marshall does a better job than the last two piece of crap pirate's films. i have hope again
