RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE Is Going Into Production

Well, Resident Evil: Afterlife will be the fourth movie from the Resident Evil film franchise. It is going to go into production on September 28th. The movie is definitely happening. It will shoot for 8 weeks at Cinespace Film Studios up in Toronto.

Sony’s Screen Gems is developing the movie and they have set its release date for September 17, 2010.

This is all great, but they still haven’t confirmed any of the talent that is involved! We know the film was written by, Paul W.S. Anderson, who’s been involved with all the resident Evil movies, but there’s no word yet on if he will direct this one. As for if Milla Jovovich is involved….. beats the hell out of me. I assume she would be, there’s no point in making the movies without her. It would suck. The story will take place in Tokyo for more Umbrella Corporation zombie mayhem.

I don’t mind another Resident Evil movie as long as it is just as fun, and just as Jovovichy as the other films.

Paul W.S. Anderson only directed the first film. He wrote and exec produced all three but only directed the debut film from 2002. I wish they would try to follow the games more closely. I think they could make it without Milla. If they can fuck up a franchise with her, they can certainly fix that same franchise without her.

I liked these movies but I have always felt that they were not very close to the games. I would love to see a movie closer to the first and second games. Or even Code Veronica.

I haven't seen the 3rd movie, but I wasn't a fan of the 1st two. I'd like to see these films be more of a scary creepy atmospheric tense movie instead of action flicks.

Let's go back many many years…

I was sitting in my room. Lights off and controller in my hand. It was cold winter in Michigan so I am curled up in my blanket over the heat vent. I am playing the first Resident Evil.
It was cool and creepy. I was doing pretty well.

I go into a room. It is empty of creatures and I can see into the next room through a glass window. There is something on the table over there. So I move into the hall, halk into the other room to find that the window was a 2-way mirror.
I slowly walk to the table… reaching for the item… when… CRASH!
A licker jumps through the glass and I almost pee myself a little.

I want a Resident Evil movie that can do that. From the games or not.
