T.J HOOKER is coming to The Big Screen

Here’s something that we don’t need. Aaron Spellings 1982 TV Series T.J Hooker is being adapted for the big screen. If this turns out anything like the self-spoofing Starsky And Hutch or Dukes of Hazzard movies, then you can count me out. I mean, could they really go another direction with it?
TJ Hooker creator Rick Husky, Ryan Heppe, and David Foster are producing the action comedy, with director Chuck Russell in talks to helm the project. There is some hope though! Foster has already been successful in bringing a TV character to the big screen with 1998’s The Mask Of Zorro, which I actually loved.
On the other hand, the screenplay is being penned by the writing team of Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson, who took one of my favorite TV shows, and turned it into the travesty that was The Wild Wild West, which starred Will Smith. You can insult me with that garbage, but the Wild Wild West was one of my father’s favorite TV Shows growing up… you crossed the line Maddock and Wilson!

If this was a year ago, I would have said ‘good luck’ replacing William Shatner, who starred as the ‘tough as nails’ Sgt TJ Hooker, alongside Adrian Zmed and Heather Locklear. But after Chris Pine proved in this year’s Star Trek, that Shatner’s shoes could indeed be filled, I’m not as quick to condemn. But let’s face it, the Star Trek franchise is infinitely more beloved, and the Star Trek reboot was in the hands of JJ Abrams!
But the producers have faith. Husky has held on to the rights of this project for years, and Heppe adds that…
The series was the poster child for cop TV shows in the 1980s with great stunts, so we think there’s a fun movie to be made from it.
So are you guys ready for a TJ Hooker Movie? Who should they cast in the roles of Shatner’s TJ, Zmed’s Vince, and Locklear’s Stacy? Let us know what ya think!

oh my god…really….OH MY GOD…wtf is going wrong in hollywood the last years, every goddamn week they're announcing another series is going to the big screen(like a-team), or some other shit(bazooka joe or whatever) but what really insults me are the goddamn remakes
like the newest one from robert roudriguez "Predator"!! i loved the original, it was something new and fresh just like terminator or alien, it blew me away when i first saw it and instead of creating something new, hollywood and the goddamn roudriguez are ruining it (the day roudriguez singed to direct he died inside)
thank god there are still some directors who're not doing such kind of thing, go tarantino, go cameron^^
Though I do agree with most of your your points in your comment, I MUST point out that Inglourious Basterds is a REMAKE!!! It's based off of Enzo G. Castellari "Quel maledetto treno blindato", or Inglorious Bastards… but spelled correctly. So even though I love Tarentino, he shouldn't be included in your list of non remakers's's's'.
Perhaps they could go the Shaft route. Plot: Bill Shatner comes back as T. J. Hooker and is the Chief of Detectives. His grandson TJ II is the main character. You then at that point don't need to replace any of the characters. Solution provided.P
