Twi-Hards, Here’s your First Look at the Volturi Fam from NEW MOON

volturi

Here they are little thunbnail images of the Volturi, if you’ve read the book then I don’t have to explain to you how they are, if you haven’t but you are reading this anyway, they are a aristocratic clan of vampires that will be introduced in the next film, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The Volturi are the equivalent of a royal family to vampires. They operate from the city of Volterra, Italy. The Volturi have existed for at least three thousand years, if not more. They are the largest coven in existence, followed by Carlisle’s family and Tanya’s. However, they do not follow a “vegetarian” diet, as seen in New Moon, in which they capture and murder several humans in a carefully planned “meal”. They are considered the de facto royal family of vampires, as they are the largest and most influential coven in existence . The Volturi deal swiftly and decisively with anything they consider a threat to their city, or the vampire world. They destroy anyone who attempts to overthrow them, or resist their authority and, at Caius’ insistence, have hunted werewolves (true werewolves, not shape-shifters) to near extinction in Europe and Asia.

The pics come with what looks like the Volturi seal. These pics give us out first look at Michael Sheen as Aro, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, Dakota Fanning as Jane and Cameron Bright as Alec.

So, what do you think?

Wow . . . It's nice to see Michael Sheen step up and try a different role for a change . . .Wait! I'm sorry, I thought that he already acted in a vampire movie . . . what range . . . what depth . . . awesome actor though.

I was not sure how Dakota Fanning would prove as a vampire, but turns out she has the look but can she deliver.

  3. superme524 on July 30th, 09

More than likely not. I can't stand to watch War of the Worlds because of her character (that and the movie was lame) or her crummy acting in Push, particularly the scene where she is supposed to be drunk.

i think she'll surprise us all. she was a tad creepy in "hide and seek" w/ de niro. why not a vampire too?

i've read the series and i honestly imagined a smaller.. younger person, but dakota actually fits the look perfectly now that i think about it.

the only actor i'm not familiar with is caius/jamie campbell. the rest have a lot of potential to make these roles reach further than the book would even dare.

    I can't wait

Well to blame a 10 year old girl for her character is lame. I think spealburg should be to blame. and she did a graet job. Push was a bad movie. I cant think of a single actor who has never been in a bad movie it happins to the best

I'm not blaming the 10 year old for her character, I'm blaming her acting for being crap. And Spielburg is just as to blame for casting actors that are huge names, but have little to no range.

I would take the time to show you why your wrong.
But you seem to hate Dakota.

wait and see could just be perfect people for the roles. give them a chance… how about the same chance we gave original cast….seems only fair

  12. meto on August 1st, 09

I agree with you but nothing to worry about in the first place. now we have true actors and befor??

I have read the books several times and I think dakota is a very good choice for jane. Instead of criticising her and putting her down give her a chance to prove herself. I personally love her as an actress and don't see where she is a bad actress but everyone deserves the right to voice their own opinion and so that is what I am doing too. I think she will be good in New Moon and can't wait to see it.

Dakota looks so old. Jane is supposed to look angelically young like a botticelli angel. In that thumbnail she looks as old as Rosalie Cullen. Too much makeup on her face.
