Watch the First 4 Minutes of GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHT

Hey Gang! Check out the first four minutes of DC/Warner Bros. Animation’s Green Lantern: First Flight. The animation looks great! But, boy did they really speed through the character development. One of Warner Bros. Animation’s problems is telling a good story. Just from the first four minutes you get the sense that this thing is going to be all over the place. I hope I’m wrong, but with their track record, and what I take from this little clip, I just don’t know. All I do know is they didn’t take any time to set up Hal Jordan’s character before they turned him into The Green Lantern. Maybe they do a flashback thing as soon as the scene ends that tells the story up until we reach that point in the movie, and then it continues from there or something.
They are going to be showing the full film up at Comic-Con on Thursday, and I planned to attend that, so we’ll see what happens. The DVD itself wont be available until July 28th.
Check out the clip below and tell me what you think.

awsome!
Yeah, ha looks like is gonna be crap. Just because the animation is good doesn't mean the movie will be good. If this these are things to come for the live action movie Im out.
I thought we got just enough set-up, what with Hal's banter with Carol and the little smile he gave after discovering he'd been snatched from the test facility. Perfect for an audience that (presumably) will be familiar with the mythos, as opposed to the "general market" live-action flick.
Is that all people want? Instant gratification? Put Hall in the Green Lantern Suit as soon as possible who cares about story or plot, lets go fight bad guys now? This will be just crappy as Justice League a new Frontier. Banter, and a little smile don't set up anything.
Good animation for a kids cartoon but nothing they didn't show on TV back in the 70's. I'm so jaded! LOL
I agree. The set-up was a little fast but I also agree with what aboynamedart said, "if they are trying to target "us" meaning the comic-book heads) then its not that bad.
You make a good point regarding this being made for the fans. At the same time, I'm a fan, and I want to see a good story. But again your right about the fans, and that's who this is for.
Yeah… not really feelin it.
While I liked the overall design, I felt like I was watching an episode of Mobile Fighter G Gundam during the transformation scene. I'm not sure that I like the anime influence.
I'm assuming we'll get a good deal more exposition once Hal makes his way to Oa. But really, this part does need to happen fairly quickly. Abin Sur isn't exactly in a position to read Hal the whole Book of Oa. With something like Batman Begins, it made sense to go a long time before Bruce put on the suit because so much of his becoming Batman is the training that he puts himself through first. For Hal, at least the way I see it, it's more about how he grows once he unexpectedly finds himself a member of the Green Lantern Corps.
As a Green Lantern fan, I'm likely to rent it just to see how it turns out, but I'm not sure it'll be worth buying.
