Goyer still plans to do ‘MAGNETO’ Film

The veteran scribe of many, many, comic book adapted films, is very confident that X-Men Origins: Magneto will begin production within the next year. David S. Goyer has written such comic book adapted films as; The Crow:City of Angels, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the entire Blade Trilogy and executive produced the Blade television series. He has also directed Blade: Trinity, The Unborn, ad The Invisible. MTV reports that Goyer is still confident that the magneto film will be green-lit. Several X-Men movies are rumored to be in production such as; X-Men First Class, Wolverine 2, and a Deadpool spin-off. It is rumored that several other spin-off films are in the works but it is unknown as to what those projects will be.

Goyer goes on to say about the Magneto project:

They’re still thinking about doing it. They’re definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs.

I’ve been in touch with them. I’m sure that project will move forward in the next year or so.

Goyer has also been attached to the Flash Forward television series (as well as a possible Batman 3 that is rumored to start filming next year) so it seems a bit odd that he would be working on this. Goyer, I hate to see, is a brilliant writer but not the best director. The fact that he is already so busy with a new television series leads me to think that he may not be able to go full force on Magneto. I just hope I am wrong.

What do you think?

David Goyer, are you listening? If you are, cast John Slattery as Magneto. No offense to Ian McKellen, he's just way too old. No amount of visual effects are going to change that. Plus with John Slattery as Magneto you can do X-Men: The First Class they way it was meant to be done.

he's doing tv probably because he has to wait for magneto to be green-lit and he does need something to do for a year or so. if he expects magneto to "move forward in the next year or so", then i wouldn't expect magneto until 2011 or 2012 at the earliest.

Yeah, Mckellan is a brilliant actor, but he is to old for magneto. When he was first cast in the role it was very disappointing. I always thought it should have been John O'Hurley, but he is almost to old now. Who Should Play Magneto?

I really think John Slattery from Mad Men would be perfect for Magneto, he's younger and already grey… Slap some extensions in his hair and splash some makeup on him and he'd be perfect.
