Tarantino Wants to Make British Spy Movie with Simon Pegg

In a recent interview with Quentin Tarantino, he reveals that he would love to make a British spy movie starring British actors, and to that I say, please do. I would love to see Tarantino take on a British Spy movie with that great style of British comedy, that makes the British so awesome.

Apparently Tarantino is a big fan of a series of books by thriller writer Len Deighton, and there is a trilogy that he would like to adapt. He goes on to talk about who he would like to work with for this film.

I am a huge fan of Simon Pegg, so I would definitely love to work with him. I also think Kate Winslet is one of the best actresses that ever lived, so I would be honoured to work with her. I am also a huge admirer of Anthony Hopkins. I would also love to work with Michael Caine. I can see them appearing in my movies, it just has to be right.

I love England. It would be a wonderful life experience to have an excuse to work here for six or nine months. One of the things I am musing about doing is the trilogy of Len Deighton books, Berlin Game, Mexico Set and London Match. The story takes place in the Cold War and follows a spy name Bernard Samson. What is attractive is the really great characters and the wonderful opportunities of British and German casting.

We, I’m sold! I would love to see a great cast like this come together for a Tarantino English spy film. What do you all think?

The Game, Set and Match trilogy was actually filmed as a 13 part mini-series in 1988, broadcast on ITV. It starred Lord of the Rings star Ian Holm as Bernard Samson and is a faithful reproduction of the original stories. Sadly, Len Deighton didn't think so and has refused permission for the show to be broadcast again. Tarantino's is the first film director who's hinted at wanting to film the books (which actually extend to nine novels in all).
