WAR OF THE WORLDS: GOLIATH Animated Steampunk Movie Trailer
Here is a fun looking animated film being developed called War of the Wolds: Goliath. As you know I’m a big fan of animation, and I like they idea of placing this story in a steampunk type world. I have always thought War of the Worlds is a perfect steampunk setting. It looks like the animation is a mix of traditional and CGI animation. Some parts look really good other parts look like they two styles don’t mix well, but that just may be one of those budget issues. In the end the movie looks like it could be really. Here is a little synopsis.
In 1900, the Earth was attacked by ruthless invaders from the planet Mars. The Martian’s 80 ft tall, heat-ray spewing, Tripod battle machines laid waste to the planet, but the invaders ultimately fell prey to Earth’s tiny bacteria.
Fourteen years later, Man has rebuilt his shattered world, in large part by utilizing captured Martian technology. Equipped with giant, steam-powered Tripod battle machines, the international rapid reaction force, A.R.E.S., is Mankind’s first line of defense against the return of the rapacious Martian invaders. Based in a massive fortress complex at the south end of Manhattan Island, the young warriors of A.R.E.S. train under the leadership of Secretary of War, Theodore Roosevelt, and the grim General Kushnirov.
And return the Martians do. The rematch finds the multinational squad of the A.R.E.S. battle Tripod “Goliath” on the front-lines of a vicious interplanetary offensive when the Martian invaders launch their second invasion using even more advanced alien technology. In the crucible of combat, this young team helming the mighty Goliath will be tested to the limits of their endurance and courage as they fight for Mankind’s very survival under the onslaught of an implacable enemy.
TMNT created Kevin Eastman is Executive Producer on the project, and it was directed by Joe Pearson.

So this is for cartoon network or direst to DVD, right?
I think it would have looked better if they chose to either do it all in CG or all in traditional animation, trying to combine the two is tricky it requires more money than this production has. Looks interesting, as maybe a half hour cartoon series. It reminds me of the style that cropped up after Batman the Animated series and Disney's Gargoyles came out. Also, I don;t see why they had to remake War of the Worlds again. It's nice to have name recognition, but still, unless they deviate from the way the aliens were defeated before, it's just another variation of what has been done too many times before. Like I said, its alright for what it is, but if it was all traditional animation, it would have a better feel, instead of all the aliens/mechs popping out from the backgrounds and characters.
now this is what war of the worlds shoulda been not that piece of crap spielberg pulled out his ass with cruiseand actuall war of the world i enjoyed teh original movie about a thousand times more then the updated one that to say i thought the new one was the biggest piece of crap ive ever seen it make show girls look like it worthy of an oscar
The animation doesn't mesh well. Appleseed Ex Machina did a far better job of it.
Where have all the good stories gone, and why do people feel the need to tell the same damn one's over and over and over?
Go pick up a book.
