Concept Art For The New BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Movie
The very “controversial” and unnecessary remake/ reboot of the great science fiction epic is well under way. I say controversial for the simple fact that the last, and arguably best, version of Galactica, just ended its run on SyFy about 6 months ago. Many people, including myself, find it far to soon to do a “re-whatever” of the story at this point. But NBC/Universal is well under way with the new film.
We reported not too long ago that Bryan Singer was brought in to direct the film. He apparently is under way with pre production on the film. We have some examples of what the new film might look like. These are some concept images from artist Eric Chu, who also worked on Ronald D. Moore’s incarnation of BSG that just ended its 5 year run. These are an interpretation of how a Larson/Singer Galactica could look.

For any who are interested, Eric Chu gave CinemaSpy.com a brief explanation of how he came up with the new concepts for the film to give it a Galactica feel with a modern approach.
On such a project, the concept designer is asked to take into account the legacy that has come before when coming up with sketches. It is very easy — but creatively stifling — to simply do a superficial touch-up, yet a radical departure would alienate those who maintain a nostalgic attachment to the original. The trick is to find the “essence” of the design, those elements that identify the original and rework it so that the new version still subconsciously evokes the past while being a believable evolution of it.

I for one am curious. I'm apparently one of the few out their that hated the new galactica. I might have tolerated it without the galactica name, but to me it was just West Wing in space with human-like robots.
If this can bring back the feel of the original, I'm in favor.
I accept many love the new one, but I just didn't and I'm glad that maybe someone is making a movie for those of us like me.
The last pic… LV426 is the planet from aliens.
They remind me of the art the quiet, wearing black, guy in the back of Biology class did in his art class in high school.
Do. Not. Want.
Seems kinda soon for a reboot…
I think the Daggit is supposed to be a 'Queen', with all of those alien eggs around the kid.
