David Goyer to bring us GHOST RIDER 2?

I don’t care that David Goyer wrote The Dark Knight, Ghost Rider 2 starring Nicolas Cage should not happen. I was not a big fan of the first Ghost Rider movie, but there is a group of people out there that did like it. These are the people that would be excited to know David Goyer may end up being attached to the film as writer and director. He has not officially signed on yet, but Columbia Pictures is already planning to base the sequel on a script that Goyer wrote several years ago.

I think I would be more open to this film if Nicolas Cage wasn’t in it. Am I being to hard on him? It’s what killed the first movie for me. The sequel will is going to be produced by Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul, with Gary Foster executive producer.

There are a ton of other Marvel films that are in the works right now, they we knew would proabably happen. Fantastic Four is getting a reboot, which Green Lantern scribe Michael Green is writing. Then ther are all the X-Men movies Wolverine sequel, Deadpool spinoff, The New Mutants, Magneto, and First Class. FOX is also currently developing a Dardevil reboot, and a Silver Surfer Spinoff, which have both been kept quiet. Sony hired James Vanderbilt to write a fifth and Sixth Spider-Man film, and Universal Pictures is working on getting Sub-Mariner off the ground. Them Marvel and Paramount are getting Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers up and running.

There are a ton of Marvel comic book films in production or going into production, my question is when are we going to get to see Dr. Strange! That one may end up being done through Disney.

As for David Goyer possibly directing Ghost Rider 2, what do you think?

Personally, I think it could be a good thing. The biggest issues I had with "Ghost-rider" wasn't Cage but rather the writing and character development. I'm kind of tired of viewing these films expecting to see the characters I love, but then I go and they don't look or act anything like the comics. Mephistopheles? Blackheart? They were referenced, but I didn't see them at all. I think the costuming is the biggest part of character development in 'comic to film' adaptations. So as long as that and the script are done well I think the actors can carry their parts through.

I am one of those people who really enjoyed the first Ghost Rider and thinks Nic Cage was perfectly cast in the title role. As far as the sequel goes David Goyer writing = a good thing, David Goyer as director as well = iffy situation. I mean did you see Blade Trinity? C'mon. In closing love Cage as star and am 100% down with a Goyer script but for the love of Stan Lee a more compotent director must be chosen to helm the project.

Green Lantern isn't a Marvel Character its DC. Plus they should stop making comic moves unless they are going to hold up to the comics. You cant create story lines and give characters powers (couch couch Spidy) The creators of these comics created all this wonderful lore and then hollywood comes and destroys it all.

I can't think of two different takes on the comic book genre than the Dark Knight and Ghost Rider.
