HBO Greenlights Scorsese’s TV Series BOARDWALK EMPIRE

boardwalk Empire

I love that HBO and Martin Scorsese have teamed to develop a period drama TV series, starring Steve Buscemi. This is just a winning combination. The series is called Boardwalk Empire, and it revolves around the life of 1920s Atlantic City bigwig Nucky Thompson, who is described as “equal parts politician and gangster.” Buscemi will play Thompson. Co-stars include Michael Pitt, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, Shea Whigham, Dabney Coleman and Stephen Graham.

The series was created by Sopranos alum Terence Winter. The series pilot was directed by Scorsese, but it looks like he will be a hands on executive producer from here on out. Other producers include, Mark Wahlberg, and Stephen Levinson.

HBO has ordered 11 episodes of the series and production is going to start next fall in Gotham. They are hoping to start airing the series next year. This show is going to be awesome.

Good for Scorsese. Is that the kind of gig you get for agreeing to an "Entourage" cameo….?
