Warner Bros. and DC Animation are developing a new animated DVD film called Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. If you got your self a copy of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies yesterday then you got a chance to see the new behind the scene featurette for their new animated film.

Basically with Crisis on Two Earths the animation team is taking a page from one of the original ‘Crisis’ stories form the ’60s where the Justice League encountered a group of villains on a parallel Earth called the Crime Syndicate. The story also follows a “good” Lex Luthor as he arrives from an alternate universe to recruit the Justice League to help save his Earth from the Crime Syndicate, a gang of villainous characters with virtually identical super powers to the Justice League. What ensues is the ultimate battle of good versus evil in a war that threatens both planets and, through a diabolical plan launched by Owlman, puts the balance of all existence in peril.

They also brought in some decent voice talent for the film, the one that surprised me most was James Woods as Owlman. Oh! and then they ditched Kevin Conroy as Batman and replaced him with… William Baldwin. Why William Baldwin? The rest of the cast includes: Mark Harmon (NCIS) as Superman, Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Law & Order) as Lex Luthor, Gina Torres (Serenity, Firefly) as Super Woman and Bruce Davison (X-Men) as the President.

The film is an original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League) rooted in DC Comics’ popular canon of “Crisis” stories. Bruce Timm is obviously executive producer on the film, co-directing it is Lauren Montgomery who also directed Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, which were two of WB animation better films. Sam Liu is the other director on the show, he made the most recent Public Enemies animated movie.

Warner Home Video will distribute in Spring 2010. Check out the behind the scenes video below and tell us what you think!

I like the idea of Mark Harmon voicing Superman and Chris Noth as Luthor. It brings a greater depth of history to the characters, I think. Not sure what to think of Billy Baldwin as Batman, even though he does have a nice speaking voice.

Why does it create a deeper history?, thats a kinda pointless message, nearly worse than mine cause mine at least relates to yours in this universe

I can't wait for this film to be released – and so are a lot of fans for this new exciting animated feature!
