Kick-Ass
is one of those movies that we here at GeekTyrant are looking forward to with great anticipation. I love everything I have seen so far. It looks absolutely amazing. Graphically violent and filled with “comic-book” greatness. I cant wait. The movie is based off of the graphic novel from comic book veterans Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. Recently, John Romita Jr. spoke to MTV about his involvement in the film where he helped to develop an animated sequence in the film. He also tells what the animated sequence will be about.

The animated sequence is about a minute, minute and a half, and it’s a very wild computer program that allows us to do this. I don’t need to do as many drawings as you think, but they’re able to do the animation with models that I’ve drawn.

The sequence tells about the origin of the character Big Daddy (Nicholas Cage), and tells a bit of his violent background.

There’s a comic book that Nicolas Cage’s character has drawn as a shrine to his victims. It’s basically an origin of him.

[Big Daddy's] partner will come in when Nicolas Cage is carted off to prison. He comes in, opens the book up and it morphs into Nicolas Cage’s origin.

I am very glad to see that the creator of the book is this heavily involved in the film. Rarely do you see that kind of involvement when comics get “translated” for the screen. John Romita Jr. is one of the better comic book artists out there and Kick-Ass looks like it will be a really cool film.

I have generally high hopes for this. I pray for something similar to Watchmen, visceral and bold.
