Official Sequel to Bram Stoker’s DRACULA Novel : Story Details

Quite some time ago we reported that an actual descendant of legendary author Bram Stoker, was in the works to write the “official” sequel to Bram’s 1897 novel Dracula. However very little was revealed on what the story was going to be about…. until now.
The novel is entitled Dracula:The Undead. Not the most creative title I’ll admit but when you are talking about the sequel to the single most important vampire novel ever made…. they have a right to make it to the point. Here is the synopsis thanks to IO9.
Dracula The Un-Dead begins in 1912, twenty-five years after Dracula “crumbled into dust.” Van Helsing’s protégé, Dr. Jack Seward, is now a disgraced morphine addict obsessed with stamping out evil across Europe. Meanwhile, an unknowing Quincey Harker, the grown son of Jonathan and Mina, leaves law school for the London stage, only to stumble upon the troubled production of “Dracula,” directed and produced by Bram Stoker himself.
The play plunges Quincey into the world of his parents’ terrible secrets, but before he can confront them he experiences evil in a way he had never imagined. One by one, the band of heroes that defeated Dracula a quarter-century ago is being hunted down. Could it be that Dracula somehow survived their attack and is seeking revenge? Or is their another force at work whose relentless purpose is to destroy anything and anyone associated with Dracula?
So it looks like Bram himself will be making a cameo in this novel. The author of the original book that this sequel is based on….. That is like art or something. The novel is being written by Dacre Stoker who is the great grand-nephew of Bram Stoker. Dacre is also collaborating with Dracula historian Ian Holt to help write the book. Bram Stoker’s own estate is calling this the first true and only “official” sequel.
There have been many many many novels, movies, comic books, breakfast cereals, etc. about the single most famous “monster” in entertainment history. In fact most people in the world never heard the name Dracula (or Vlad Tepes) before Bram Stoker wrote his epic story 112 years ago. With Stoker’s estate fully backing this I am very curious to see how it all turns out. I cant wait to read it and I think ultimately it will be up to the audience whether or not this is considered the definitive sequel.

I for one am on board with this.
Holy Vampire Sequels Batman!!!! I liked the movie and now have a really good reason to read the original book (insert cricket sound effect) yes i know, I'm crazy for not having read it already, but there are thousands of books out in the world over one hundred of which are classics and there is very little time to read them all, so I must pick my favorites. Needless to say, I guarantee if the book is any good they'll turn it into a movie.
