Spielberg, Lucas & Ford have agreed on a story for INDIANA JONES 5!

Here’s a small bit of movie news, concerning one of the biggest movie franchises of all time.
Last July, a couple months after the release of the fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, creator George Lucas expressed his desire to do a fifth Jones flick. And why wouldn’t he? Even with the lackluster reviews and fan(boy) outrage, Crystal Skull raked in $786.6 million worldwide at the box-office with a budget of about $185 million. Throw in another kazillion dollars in merchandise and DVD/Blu-Ray sales, and it’s hard to argue with a guy if you’re the studio… or director Steven Spielberg. In the article(and in the DVD commentaries), Lucas admitted:
With the last one, Steven wasn’t that enthusiastic. I’m in the future; Steven’s in the past. He’s trying to drag it back to the way they were, I’m trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It’s kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas.
Shudder… Shudder… Shudder. So, needless to say, when Spielberg announced this June, that he had cracked the story for Indiana Jones 5, our hopes were up that he could bring it back to “the way they were,” and not this alien infested “future” that Lucas ushered in in the fourth. But a couple of days afterwards, producer Frank Marshall confirmed and expressed his excitement, but cautioned:
Until there’s a script, nothing’s definite. I haven’t heard the idea.

So now here’s the bit of news we’ve been waiting for. In an interview with People, Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford gives us an update on where they all stand on the fifth film :
The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself [have] agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.
So there we have it, the three main components have agreed on where Indiana Jones’ latest adventure will take him. Still no word what the story is… but let’s hope when George Lucas is “actively at work” on the script, he doesn’t get some crazy ideas to make Jones’ whip out of light. (What’s that? You wanna kill off Mutt? Hmmmm… I guess we can compromise.) Hopefully the script is good, Ford isn’t getting any younger. The most action he’s done since Crystal Skull is telling Sacha Baron Cohen to “F*@K OFF!!!” in the Bruno Movie.
Now that Spielberg, Lucas and Ford have agreed on the story, are you ready for Indiana Jones 5?

I hope it happens, Yeah 4 was bad but It was fun and its INDIANA JONES, only one that comes close to Han or backwards! but still i hope it happens!
I can hear the comments now: "I do not want Lucas to rape my childhood again!" Blah, blah, blah. I am looking forward to it! The fourth was solid entertainment and yes it was a bit goofy, but fun none the less.
"I'm in the future, he's in the past." Wow. That explains so much. George is definitely off the deep end
Yeah, I think he doesn't understand that Indiana Jones is about exploring, oh, i dunno, something called: THE PAST
#4 was not solid entertainment…nuclear blast in a fridge…tarzan-yelling monkeys….alien skeletons that merge into one and come to life? it made no sense and his participation in the story didn't stop the bad guys from doing anything! parts of it were enjoyable…but it was too far fetched for my taste…put him back in search of a human artifact facing normal challenges
I have yet to hear from complaining fanboys, what they expected from the 4th movie. All I've heard is how its not like the old movies. I hope number 5 happens and I'll enjoy it even when Mutt turns out to be a transdimensional alien and indiana jones whip turns out to be made from leather from adam and eve's first clothes.
After seeing how well they collaborated with the most recent Indy film, I am NOT looking forward to another. At this point in Speilberg & Lucas' careers, no one is willing to tell them "that's a bad idea guys," and even if there were, I don't think either would listen. If they were forced to do a "rough and tumble" type of project with a shoestring budget maybe they could make a decent movie together. That being said, I think that they've both grown so artistically apart from one another too much since Last crusade that it would be difficult to recapture the magic they had during the '80's.
Yeah, facing normal challenges like a tribe that can take out your heart with their bare hands, or arks that melt peoples faces off, or the holy grail which can age someone in 5 seconds and heal a bullet wound in seconds. Please go back to the plausible stuff!
I actually really like the 4th one, and am a pretty huge Indy fan. Of coarse it wasnt the same, but I think it was fun and aliens isnt that big of a stretch from gods and evil spirits coming out of a golden box and melting everyones face off. I enjoyed the new one, even with its flaws, and hope the 5th will be as good as the last, or even better.
I wish George Lucas had died when he was young so he couldn't come back to F up his good movies with terrible new versions.
Hell, I'll watch it
Wow….just wow.
Not really enthused about this– can't they just let a good thing alone? It's not like they need the money!
