The Comedian Wants to be LOBO

Watchman star Jeffrey Dean Morgan who played The Comedian in the film, recently revealed that he is going after the role for the lead man in the Guy Ritchie directed comic book adaptation of Lobo. I’m still not sure how they are going to pull this off the right way, but I don’t have any problem with Morgan taking on the role. The guy is a decent enough actor, as for the look, no matter who they cast in the role they are going to have to do a massive change using make-up, cg, or a mixture of both.

Here is what he had to say:

They’re making ‘Lobo’ right now. That would be cool. ‘Lobo’ would be very cool. I don’t think that I’m as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke’s body on my head, that would be just great.

So there it is, he thinks it would be cool to play Lobo. Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter and an anti-hero biker. The 90’s version of Lobo was intended to be an over-the-top parody of Marvel Comics superhero Wolverine and Punisher.

I definitely think Morgan has the ability to bring the personality of Lobo to life. Morgan continues:

You’re always looking for material that’s kind of smart and fun and this seems to be where it is right now. The studios are really gravitating towards it, more than I’ve ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now and I don’t see that going away for at least the next couple of years.

He’s right, comic book movie are a hot commodity in Hollywood right now, and I seriously don’t see it fading away anytime soon. In fact I think comic book films are here to stay. It is the best source for original content and ideas that Hollywood has right now. Do you really think they are going to go back to reading scripts when looking at pretty pictures is a lot easier? Morgan adds:

I do have an in, I’ll be elbowing somebody soon.

Who is his in? Well he is currently shooting the film, The Losers. The producers on the film are Joel Silver and Akviva Goldsman, they will also be producing Lobo.  Would you like to see Morgan play Lobo? What other actor would you like to see take on the character?
