Twisted Disney Princesses art is Awesome!

This twisted Disney Princess art by illustrator Jeffrey Thomas is absolutely bad-ass. We have never seen the Disney princesses in this dark light before, but boy does it look fantastic! I would love to see versions of the movies transformed into this style. I know it would never happen, but holy cow would it be ever-so-cool. Its very easy to see hardcore heroines through the lens of a Disney Marvel mash-up. But the truth is, this art was done before Disney bought out Marvel. I would also love to see these come out in a McFarlane Toy series!

Check out the art below and tell us what you think!

  1. groonk on September 21st, 09

You never see stuff like this cause Disney has a lock down on how all their properties are portrayed.

Best enjoy these awesome pictures while you can.

  2. Amlys on September 21st, 09

OMG. I’m a hardcore Disney fan and I love this. It’s scary and creepy and the level of detail in it is amazing. Fans will definitely appreciate the way it remains thruthful to the originals, while embracing its truly twisted potential. Thanks for posting these!

  3. Robert Kelly on September 22nd, 09

    I agree…excellent

  4. James F on September 22nd, 09

I don’t know, some of them seem pretty cool, but overall I think it’s a lot of grimdark without a lot of substance.

  5. daikou on September 22nd, 09

mulan, snow white, cinderella, sleeping beauty, and alice are amazing.

  6. Really? on September 22nd, 09

I am oddly aroused by these.

  7. Melia on September 22nd, 09

The Pocahontas one is so excellent.

  8. Chip on September 22nd, 09

The detail is GREAT!! Even down to having Pocahontas featuring John Smith's initial's on her armor. Freaking A!!

  9. Ari on September 22nd, 09

It is John Smith's armor. She kills him and takes it.

  10. jadeshadow on September 22nd, 09

Gorgeous! The Jasmine is absolutely stunning!

  11. Brett on September 22nd, 09

I saw these yesterday, and I'm noticing something I didn't yesterday looking at them again.
I really like how Mushu is coming out a tattoo on Mulan's arm.

  12. lala on September 22nd, 09

Did anyone else laugh when they saw one of Arial's hands has a fork?! Ah, the details in each piece are just amazing!
These are freakishly fantastic! I would love to see an entire series made out of each one.
My favorites so far is Snow White and her evil minion dwarfs, and Sleeping Beauty.

    I demand more. lol. :D

  13. BodyofaGeekGoddess on September 22nd, 09

I'm loving the Cinderella one – nice depictions! I would love to see some twisted Disney shorts…

  18. DavidKonig on September 22nd, 09

So very cool… especially the Snow White one… I love the fact she has all the dwarves on a leash!!!

But I doubt we'll ever be able to get this as a print… I can feel the breathe of the Disney lawyers on my neck just from looking at this as it is

  19. Chris Oates on September 22nd, 09

Love this! Pocahontas is my favorite. Too bad disney would never turn these into toys, I would love to see them.

  20. Denisse on September 22nd, 09

    Me too! These are amazing!

  21. Missy S on September 22nd, 09

OMG – those are awesome. They remind me of this one author… Jill Myles… on her website she has free short stories she wrote. They are all fairy tales but with zombies instead. Funny stuff!!

  22. sir jorge on September 22nd, 09

    now that's incredible

  23. AmyMichelle on September 22nd, 09

Sick!! I don't know if I could handle a movie with this type of animation just because it's so difficult to picture Disney this way. I mean, Disney is supposed to be for little kids and this is not little kid friendly animation.

  24. @camkevbell on September 22nd, 09

Those are pretty creepy & cool….

  25. mario on September 23rd, 09

    this is classic. all day

  30. James on September 23rd, 09

Its like all of the Disney princesses went through the mind of Tim Burton. I love Cinderella and Alice. My favorites of the bunch.

  31. Asher on September 23rd, 09

    These are badass!

  32. Ashley C on September 23rd, 09

These princesses are kick ass, awesome!

  33. Jasper on September 23rd, 09

Cinderella looks like a fucking voo doo doll; I LOVE IT!!!

  34. Jared on September 23rd, 09

This most likely qualifies as free use. If so, Disney has no right to take them down.

  35. UTLTRN on September 24th, 09

There is plenty of twisted Alice in Wonderland stuff out there including toys by McFarlane and an unfinished movie by Marilyn Manson.

  36. danof89 on September 24th, 09

I am so used to seeing Disney bastardize ideas, that it is a refreshing and wondrous change of pace to see their characters "brought to death" in such a macabre fashion. Bravo! This is definitely a winner from GT.

  37. willy on September 24th, 09

these are awesome, but wheres meg from hercules??? i loved her

  38. 10dead on September 24th, 09

  39. Zc456 on September 24th, 09

    EPIC WIN!

  40. @shadownlite on September 24th, 09

Disney would hate this…gotta keep things bland for the kiddies.

  41. desdemona on September 25th, 09

the mulan and snow white are definitely my favourite although theyre all extremely awesome…also i love the the little mermaid has a fork for her hand!

  42. @orlandorays on September 24th, 09

  43. OrangeRush2112 on September 24th, 09

  44. Antonio Pavela on September 24th, 09

Haha, if only you knew XD There's so much Disney porn out there it's ridiculous.

  45. sara on September 24th, 09

Freakin’ amazing!! Totally creeped and weirded me out… but in a good way!! Keeps the concept of the disney stories but brings them into a whole new dimension. ROCK ON!

  46. Willie Colon-Febo on September 24th, 09

Is this what's gonna happen when Disney start doing comics for Marvel's MAX series?

  47. pdawg on September 25th, 09

this is like… the Tim Burton of Disney. i LOVE it :D

  48. Inkedchick on September 25th, 09

That's Hilarious … but also applies to me …. And I'm a straight girl … It could have something to do with the same sadistic side of me that loves all those gore movies and gets hungry watching Dexter ….

  49. whocares? on September 25th, 09

    Pocahontas > *

  50. Brian on September 25th, 09

  60. vanessa on October 4th, 09

holy crap that was cool. haha snow white was amazing who came up with these and how do i contact them!?!

  61. Justin P on October 4th, 09

These are absolutely amazing. The only one I have to say I don't like is Cinderella. (My fave is Alice, but I'm obsessed with that story anyway.)

  62. Nay on October 4th, 09

This is absolutely breathtaking. How the art was drawn, the darkness in it, magnificent!

  63. ian on October 4th, 09

wow these are so freakin awesome, alice is by far my favorite! great job to whoever drew these! wish i could draw lol.

  64. Tess on October 4th, 09

Technically, the only characters that I believe they have rights to is Ariel, Lion King, Aladdin, and Mulan, and maybe Jungle Book/Tarzan/George of the Jungle, with Jane.

Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice and Wonderland, and Pocahontas are all Grimm Brothers tales, or Alice.. as Lewis Carroll, and don't "belong" to Disney. With the exception of Pocahontas, who is a real person from history.

And it's not like this is slander or anything negative about the characters. It's just artistic opinion.

  65. Priz on October 4th, 09

    Awesome work!

  66. clwnz on October 4th, 09

lol the last one with nala, the skull towards the bottom looks like a vagina :D

  67. anon on October 4th, 09

Wow, amazing take on the classics. The poses are great and there’s a lot of tension and emotion conveyed through each image. I think Jane has to be my favorite; the shading and terrified/demonic look in her eyes is very unsettling. Love the pose and tiger pelt :) But gawd, don’t compare these to Tim Burton! That’s like comparing his new Alice in Wonderland movie to American Mcgee’s version….it’s on a totally different level.

  68. Mimi on October 4th, 09

DOOD!!! FREAKIN LOVIN IT! IM GONNA TRY TO GET SOME POSTERS FOR MY BEDROOM!!!!!

  69. can on October 4th, 09

I would buy these in a store, seriously. They're dark but artistically you show each of the characters for their fierceness. Such as Cinderella being a puppet? Freaking genius.

  70. NoCold on October 4th, 09

please, please, PLEASE make wider versions. these are absolutely AMAZING, and I would love to see some drawn in landscape style rather than portrait, for a desktop backround :D

incredible work, sleeping beauty's eyes took the cake for me X.X

  71. shaztastic on October 5th, 09

I disagree about seeing the movies this way. The ones that are truly macabre at heart, yes. Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, the old time stuff. But The Little Mermaid and the likes of her are aimed at a completely different audience, and I'm pretty sure it'd be like watching Dora the Explorer get medieval on Swiper.

  72. grlgeorge on October 5th, 09

  75. shiny on October 5th, 09

    LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. untitledpulse on October 5th, 09

Love these…and no Disney shouldn't have artistic control since most (not all)of these stories existed BEFORE Disney and some even before movies in general(The first movie recorded was in 1895). well most of them anyways like Alice in wonderland the book(1865),or the original tales of Snow White and Cinderella and The Little Mermaid etc..which were morality tales. The disney movies bastardized the endings and many of the crueler aspects of the stories. To get the original tales look no further then Then The Brother's Grimm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Brother%27s_Grim... Hans Christian Andersen(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Christian_Ander... So I am happy to say this art is here to stay and I love it..GREAT WORK.

  77. Barbara on October 5th, 09

Just about to send this link to my soon to be fifteen year old. She will LOVE them!

  78. kaye on October 6th, 09

    eyeloveit…

  79. Nick on October 6th, 09

That's amazing. There should be a story written and a movie made for each of these.

  80. JJAlvin on October 6th, 09

cool. disney would be so much better off showing these chicks

  81. Jamz on October 6th, 09

    AWESOME!!!!!!

  82. M.E. on October 6th, 09

    THESE ARE WICKED AWESOME!!

  83. Ginger on October 6th, 09

just my cup of tea! AWESOME!

  84. liz on October 6th, 09

Nice I really like it! I like the fairies in the jar in Sleeping Beauty's picture. And my fave was Snow White's. The ropes on her arm show her strength and fierceness and control.

The Pocahontas one is pretty jarring to, tho. With the skulls, the tally of the head on the soldier's shield, and the handprint of blood on her leg.

  85. Trouble on October 7th, 09

This is HOT to death! I love it! Too sick with it!

  86. reg on October 8th, 09

so freaking awesome! i would've preferred it more with a little more blood. ahahahah!
    sleeping beauty is my favorite.

  87. Melissa on October 8th, 09

I suppose it would have killed you to resize these so they’re not distorted?

  88. Stef on October 8th, 09

*rolls eyes* This isn't emo. I don't see hair dyed black, abuse of black eyeliner, self-mutilation, or them crying to Good Charlotte. This is horror, this is macabre. They are NOT the same thing.

  89. Stef on October 9th, 09

I think I love Snow White and Nala the most. It's a tie! :)

  90. Franco Chan on October 11th, 09

Awesome work! I think Nala is the weakest though, since lionesses really are pretty ruthless anyway. It's probably the closest to the original. Hahaha! And Timon & Pumbaa… really trying their very best to look as evil. Not working! ;) Hahaha! Great job!

  91. Franco Chan on October 11th, 09

    Linking this to my page!

  92. Jennifer Riffle on October 17th, 09

    Totally amazing!!!

  93. Virginia Orsborn on October 17th, 09

  96. Malou on October 19th, 09

    Wow. Really awesome!

  97. tromatherapy on October 25th, 09

these look catered towards angsty 15 year old girls. sorry, too goofy for my taste.

  98. Tom Hasenauer on October 26th, 09

This is definitely awesome! My favorite is Snow White.

  99. Kate on October 27th, 09

seriously…those are suitable for framing….can we purchase? i swear i would in a heartbeat!

  100. alwaysopen on November 6th, 09
