Vampire Novel THE PASSAGE Gets A Gladiator Creative Team

Vampire movies are everywhere these days. Some people aren’t liking it. Many believe the market is being over saturated with it. I for one have no problem with it. I love vampires. Their mythologies and legends are very diverse and widespread. The problem I think many film makers are making is that they are making them too similar to other properties. Similar problems have faced Zombie movies in the past. The Passage however sounds like will be better. Especially considering who is involved in the project.
The film is based off the novel of the same name written by Jordan Ainsley. 20th Century Fox has recently acquired the rights to the property to possibly be directed by the great Ridley Scott. Imagine what Ridley Scott could do with a vampire film. The legendary director has brought us some of the most amazing films in history. Blade Runner, Alien, and Gladiator are but a few of what the legendary film maker has given to the world. The writer brought in to pen the script for this project is no stranger to working with Ridley either. John Logan who wrote the screenplay for the before mentioned Gladiator has been brought on to write the screenplay. If you are unfamiliar of who he is, Logan has also written such movies as; The Last Samurai, Aviator, and Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street.
The story to theĀ film is said to be about critically ill patients who go to South America to receive an experimental treatment involving vampire bats. When receiving the treatment the patients seem to be cured of all diseases. A secret government organization uses these experiments as a hope to rid disease but do not foresee the side-effects which cause the patients to turn into vampires.
We will keep you posted with more information as it comes out.
