Chris Pine steps into the shoes of Jack Ryan

Chris Pine is currently in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan in a new reboot of the franchise. Yes, they are not going to continue the story they are going to reboot the whole franchise.
As most of you movie geeks know, Pine played James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams new Star Trek film, and I thought he did a great job in it.
The Jack Ryan project is still being developed and Pine just started talking to Paramount but it will most likely all work out, and we will see a new Jack Ryan. The movie will not be a remake of the original films, it wont even be taken from the books! There is an original idea being constructed and obviously being built around a much younger Jack Ryan. The studio and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini.
This will be the second film franchise that Pine is involved with at Paramount so he’ll be spending a lot of time at the studio. There’s no word yet on if he will do this first or Star Trek 2.
Pine will be the fourth actor to play Jack Ryan. Alec Baldwin played him in The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford was the best Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, then Ben Affleck butchered the role in The Sum of All Fears.
So what do you think about Chris Pine being the next actor to take on the role of Jack Ryan?

I disagree. I thought Ben Affleck was actually pretty good in the role. One of his only movies that I actually liked. And I thought Alec Baldwin's character was the best. Ford was great, but a little too old for it.
Thanks for reminding me of another reason why BEN AFFLECK should never be allowed to act in movies again. Not only did he ruin Daredevil, I had totally forgotten about him being Jack Ryan. I will disagree with you though on who was the best Jack Ryan. The Hunt For Red October was the best and only Jack Ryan film that I still watch to this day and it is only one of two roles that redeems Alec Baldwin as an actor. I always had thought and I believe that Tom Clancy said the same thing that Harrison Ford was too old to play Jack Ryan. Of course I was a Tom Clancy nut and loved the all his Jack Ryan books up until he became President of the United States. At that point I tossed the book in the corner – which probably put a dent in the wall it was so huge – and thought, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Red Storm Rising is still my favorite Tom Clancy novel though. Non-Jack Ryan
I like Pine but are they going to turn Jack Ryan into a Bond-esque franchise? I'm a sucker I'm sure I'll slap down my money to see it.
Would you sat the other role that redeems Alec Baldwin is Jack Donaghy in "30 Rock," because I think that is the only other thing he is awesome in.
I think it would be great if he did it. I really hope that they don't go for a Bond-esque film, they should do something more with the character.
Good, I look forward to seeing Chris in more movies. I'd rather see him than say, Shia Ladouche.
