Plot and Casting update for RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE

The 4th chapter in the Resident Evil film series is well under way. We have reported before that Milla Jovovich was coming back to reprise her role as the genetically re-engineered heroine who fights a world of zombies and the mega-corporation that created them. BloodyDisgusting has reported that actors Norman Yeung and Kacey Barnfield have joined with Milla Jovovich, Boris Kodjoe, Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller, Spencer Locke, Kim Coates and Shawn Roberts for this next chapter. Both Yeung and Barnfield a relatively new actors and unfortunately I am not familiar with anything they have done. I imagine that their roles will probably be a bit minor considering that Milla will be playing multiple roles in the film…..well, multiple as in multiple Alices just like in the 3rd film.

The plot for the next film is as follows:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, ALICE (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

.So by the sound of things this film will be a diresct sequel to part 3 which dealt with Claire Redfield leading a convoy of survivors to safety. I didnt love the 3rd film but I also didnt hate it. You may think I am crazy but I am getting a little bored with the whole Zombie Apocalypse thing. I really loved the first 2 video games in the series and I personally wish they would have done the movies closer to that.

This film will also be directed by Paul W.S. Anderson so at the very least it will be an action packed popcorn film.

Being a big fan of the games I am always disappointed by the film adaptions. I am entertained nonetheless but I really wish they would follow the story of the games more closely. I wonder how different the first film would have been if Romero did not drop out.

I personally hated the movies. I too loved the video games but I'm sorry these movies don't do the games justice. I really wish they would make them more along the lines of the games.

Romero was going to do a direct adaptation from the game, but stopped mid production because he didn't want to do it as close to the game as they had written it. Like it was a DIRECT adaptation…which I think would have been amazing personally.

I remember seeing pictures of them making it in EGM or Gamepro way back in the day, it had me so stoked for a movie of my favorite video game of all time, but it wasn't to be. Now we're looking at a half-assed series of disappointing movies filled with telepathy and just over the top nonsense that had nothing to do with the game itself…not to mention a Tyrant that is just a spit in the face to it's video game counterpart. I mean really…sure he's loud when he gets pissed and screams, but I don't remember him being Banshee from X-Men and blasting me through a wall… :-/

I’ve been playing RE games for 11 years. The 1st and 3rd of these movies are mediocre, but have their decent action highlights. The 2nd one was terrible. I love those games and none of these movies even come close to how great they are. Hopefully this one will be better, but I sincerely doubt it.

they say they'll stay true to the comics to settle us, but just take the name and some visuals from games and just forget the story. Story is a huge part of games that hollywood is just straight up disrespecting. They're people who put in time and effort into a games story and screenwriters just seem to ignore them. RE has a great story that has been thrown away why?

they say they'll stay true to the comics to settle the internet hordes (us), but they just take the name and some visuals from games and forget about the story. Story is a huge part of games that hollywood is just straight up disrespecting. They're people who put in time and a great deal of energy into a games story and screenwriters just seem to ignore them. RE is a big example, it has a great story that has been unfairly thrown away why?
