Sandler Suits Up For Jack and Jill

That headline should probably be read in the most literal way possible: Adam Sandler will play portray twin siblings Jack AND Jill in an upcoming romantic comedy titled, predictably enough, Jack and Jill.
According to Variety, the project was brought to the attention of Happy Madison (Sandler’s production company) by a producer of Paul Blart: Mall Cop, who will produce with Sandler’s business partner. Let’s get this straight, then: romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler in both male and female roles, endorsed by a guy who thought it was funny to see Kevin James riding a Segue through a mall? Perfect.
I’ve never been a huge Adam Sandler fan, and this news obviously doesn’t alter my perception at all. Did he learn nothing from his character in Funny People? The plot of Jack and Jill honestly sounds like one of those ridiculous parodies that was the cause of much distress for actor/comedian George Simmons. Sandler fans, unite: is anyone out there excited for this project?

If Adam Sandler doesn't win a double Oscar for both Best Leading Man and Best Leading Actress, then well, I have lost all faith in the Academy. I haven't felt this abandoned since Tommy Lee Jones and Tommy Lee Jones was passed up for the double Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Two-Face in the classic cinematic achievement entitled Batman Begins.
