THE CROW Remake is Moving Forward

Back in December of last year, we reported that Relativity Media was going to acquire the rights of The Crow film franchise. At the time, Stephen Norrington (Blade, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) had signed on to write and direct a reinvention of The Crow, which is based on the comic created by James O’Barr.

At first we thought it would be a direct remake of the classic Alex Proyas version of the film. We then learned, that it wouldn’t be a remake of Proyas’ 1994 gothic stylized take on the story, and that Norrington planned to create a new character and story for the film. He also has said the new movie will be more realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style. He hopes to bring the franchise a sharpened different tone for 21st century audiences.

Now it looks like a draft of the script has been completed. A source close to the production revealed to Mania.com that Norrington’s current draft of the script has been “very well received” by Relativity.

So, the production is moving forward and the producers and director will now turn their attention to the casting of the film. There are a lot of unhappy people out there because The Crow is getting a reboot. In all seriousness though, if you look on the bright side, this new film can’t be as bad as the last 2 or 3 Crow films that have been made. But we still don’t have to be happy about it either. I guess it all depends on how much of a fan you are of the original film. What do you all think?

I basically agree with the guy above me. Yes, the book was perfection BUT the REIMAGINATION with Brandon Lee was as good as an adaptation as you could hope for until the Sin City movie. Which is not alot dammit! I loved the movie even though it couldn't compare with the book at all.
I don't even want to think about the sequels after that, nor this one. If nothing else can't the hollywood bastards tired of thinking originally have SOME respect for those who died working on or that inspired this amazing story?

this is just wrong. you do not remake the Crow. ever. Brandon Lee was amazing and cannot ever, EVER be replaced. Hollywood needs to stop picking on the classics and come up with something original. you do not touch Brandon Lee's performance. this is blasphemy. BLASPHEMY I SAY!

I could live with the freddy revamp, and hell i can even handle the bull**** that is a Plan Nine remake, but this is just wrong. i mean sure, the movie strayed from the book and it got a bit cheesy at points but what was most important was the fact that Brandon captured the passion and emotion so incredibly perfectly. unless they can come up with a film noir version that follows the book perfectly and still expresses the pain and emotion that the original did, this just isn't worth it.
