World of Warcraft Movie – Details Revealed

We’ve had our eyes peeled for any updates on the highly anticipated movie based off the popular book-turned-MMORPG game, World of Warcraft. We are pleased to announce that there have been some drastic changes made on IMDB recently. They have established a release date of 2011, but that’s not all folks. Originally holding a one word title, “Warcraft,” the guys over at Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment have changed the name to: Warcraft : Rise of the Lich King.
The reason why the title change is important is because it draws the connection to the novels written by Christie Golden which refer to the Warcraft III games and the general lore of Azeroth. These rely heavily on the presence of Arthas, who is a very prominent character in the world of Warcraft. People usually peg Arthas as the Darth Vader type in-game, but the books offer much more of an in-depth glimpse into the life of his undiscovered persona.

If the movie is anything like the book, we’re in for a treat. Neither Blizzard nor Legendary have offered up any concrete information about the IMDB updates, but the changes look promising.
Could this be a movie about Arthas and his descent into darkness from the heights of light? Stay tuned..

how are they going to keep this movie from being shallow and stupid like the game and all the novels? just saying. Fun to play but CMON, nobody in Hollywood is going to try to make the story any less CAMPY than the bullcrap stories in the game.
I just want to see a Murloc slain on the big screen. Those damn things piss me off in-game.

You pretty much nailed it. Warcraft is a fun GAME, but i don't think there are really that many people playing for the core story. Its very pretty pictures, but really is an eye-roller if you try and pay any serious attention to it. At any rate, it will still be interesting to see where they go with this. i think the machinima done in WoW is enough, though.
