David Koepp will direct big-budget action film PREMIUM RUSH

David-Koepp

David Koepp is one of Hollywood’s hardest working, most successful and highest-paid screenwriters, penning such blockbusters as Jurrasic Park, Mission: Impossible, and more recently Spider-Man, War of The Worlds, Indiana Jones: Kingdom of The Crystal Skull and Angels & Demons. He also directed one of my favorite comedies of last year, Ghost Town, which starred Rick Gervais, Greg Kinnear and featured Kristen Wiig.

Koepp will once again be stepping into the director’s chair to helm Premium Rush for Columbia Pictures, which is being fast-tracked by Sony who is looking to cast a leading male.

Based on a screenplay Koepp penned with his Ghost Town and Zathura co-writer John Kamps, Premium Rush centers on a twentysomething New York City bike messenger who picks up an envelope at Columbia U. A dirty cop is desperate to get his hands on the envelope and chases the bike messenger throughout the city.

Gavin Polone will produce the pic, marking the fifth collaboration with Koepp. Premium Rush is being conceived as a big-budget actioner that will feature French Connection type of elaborate chases, more akin to the films Koepp has written — unlike the modest $20 million budget he got for Ghost Town.

What do you think of David Koepp’s big-budget action flick PREMIUM RUSH?
