I Showed My Kids THE DARK CRYSTAL For the First Time

Well, today I went ahead and showed my kids The Dark Crystal for the first time. There been a lot of talk recently about the movie, since the sequel for it was announced. The sequel is going to be called The Power of the Dark Crystal. I figured it was a good time to share one of my favorite childhood movies with my own kids.

So what did they think? About 10 minutes in to the movie they said, "Dad, this movie looks fake." Ouch. It just goes to show what the standard is for our kids these days. They are use to the polished CGI animation, brought to us by Pixar and DreamWorks. Even stop motion animation is acceptable for them, but puppets must be way to old school. 

About 30 minutes in they started getting into the movie. Then they started talking about the film and asking questions, there were the appropriate moments where they got scared and pulled the blankets over their heads, which is great. I don't know what it is, but it's fun watching your kids get scared during a movie like this. 

After the movie was over I asked them what they thought about the movie, and here's the response's they gave.

Creepy, gross, amazing, awesome and can we watch it again.

So although we got off on a unsure shaky start, they ended up loving the movie in the end, which is great! Thats what I was hoping for.
