My POV: Watching GeekTyrant Grow And What's In Store For 2011

Hey peeps! 2010 has come to an end and I wanted to personally reflect some and share a little of what's to come.

I have totally enjoyed watch us grow over the past few years. We have grown in so many ways too! First of all I want to thank Joey aka Venkman and Free aka Mazer. Mazer keeps things running smooth and looking good from his end of things. I want to thank Venkman for his friendship, listening to my ideas and plans (sometimes over the top) and allowing me/us to do some of these fun projects which has allowed us to grow the way we have.

Back in January ’10 I let loose and went crazy on the GeekTyrant Facebook page and I’ve enjoyed watching the numbers grow there and I absolutely love interacting with everybody when I get a chance. I saw all of the other sites and their numbers and I wanted to compete with that. We have grown from I think 14 “Likes” to a whopping 5,300 + “Likes” in less than a full year. That’s crazy and I want to thank everyone! Let’s try and double this for 2011.

Another fun note is growing the working relationships with our studio and filmmaker friends. I enjoy all of the press you send our way and love doing the contests for our readers/friends! Here’s to a bigger and better 2011 with all of you!

Going to more conventions and film festivals in 2010 just made me want to go to more! We have a partnership  now with Dark Carnival Film Fest in Bloomington, Indiana and another opportunity for a new partnership coming spring 2011.

TerrorTyrant, yes it’s coming! Good things come to those who wait, as the saying goes. TerrorTyrant is something close and special to me and I’m like a kid waiting on Christmas with this branch. For those of you who don’t know, TerrorTyrant.com will be mirror site to GeekTyrant but focusing 100% on the horror genre with a special focus to indie film. Another personal thank you goes to Free Reyes here.

GeekTyrant has partnered up with KCAA 1050 NBC Radio's Nine Most every Wednesday at 7:10 pm PST for the weekly entertainment segment. You can listen live or the podcast afterwards if you miss it.We have had some great giveaways live on the air and are working on some opportunities for people to run some ads during out segment.

Expanding on GeekTyrant’s already long-running weekly podcast (which I can never stay up late enough for) actress Deneen Melody and myself decided to start doing a Friday night show called TerrorTyrant Radio. This was also to help spread the word for the upcoming TerrorTyrant website while talking about all things horror and pop culture including our own projects we have going on the side. You can listen in live every Friday night at 10 pm CST or listen to the podcast later. Deneen and I also help raise money for Aiden, a young 5 year old little guy who is battling leukemia. all money raise from these prints you see go to the Aid for Aiden Foundation. You can also click here if you'd just like to donate anything to him and his family.

Stepping out from behind the scenes a little over a year ago has also opened up so many doors for me. I have several movie projects lined up for 2011 including a fun animated web series. I’ve started my own production company, Alien Bee Entertainment which has allowed me to begin work on something really close to me, the Scarecrow movie in which I’m writing now and will be executive producing. A comic book is also planned for Scarecrow later in 2011.

I also came up with this crazy genetically mutated hybrid creature called Crocaloctopus and debuted the campaign t-shirts at Dark Carnival Film Fest back in November. The plan for Crocaloctopus is to have a Saturday night movie made on Syfy or to have it picked up by The Asylum who make great creature features. Crocaloctopus has gotten loads of press, a local magazine publication will be covering my fun creature and I in just a few weeks and we are hard at work on a comic book that will debut at Wonder Con in the Spring.

There are more plans set in motion that will expand our branches and the GeekTyrant brand. I want to thank ALL of YOU who check out GT and ALL of YOU I’ve met over the past few years, especially 2010!  What a fun year and here’s to a great 2011. Thanks y’all! Yeah I know some of you was waiting to see when I was going to put that in there so there it is. Ya’ll.
