Top 10 New Shows – 11.05.09

This week the GeekTyrant crew gets together to discuss the top 10 films of the weekend. Abe Froman and Mr. Black discuss Jared Hess’s new film, Gentleman Bronco’s. Here’s Part 3 of our roundtable interviews with the cast of Drew Barrymore’s coming of age comedy, Whip It. Listen as we interview Alia Shawkat and Landon Pigg on working with Barrymore in her directorial debut, and starring opposite star Ellen Page, as Shawkat portrays her best friend Pash, and Pigg plays Page’s romantic interest Oliver.

You may recognize Alia Shawkat from her role as Maeby Fünke, on Arrested Development. You can also catch her in the forthcoming Runaways biopic alongside Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.

Here’s part 2 of our interviews with the good folks behind Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, Whip It.

In order to describe the coming-of-age comedy, I’d like to quote someone very close to my heart… me. Actually, that’s not true, I’m not that fond of myself. But here is a little snippet from my review:

Drew Barrymore pulls together a stellar cast of familiar faces, and injects her decades of film experience as an actor and producer, into a multi-layered comedy filled with some remarkable performances and one of the most memorable trio of scenes to hit the screen in years.

Here’s our roundtable interview with two of the film’s rollerskating vixens, singer-actor Eve(The Woodsman), and legendary stuntwoman/actor Zoe Bell(Death Proof).

What you hear in the audio, but don’t see, is the two ladies locking lips. I guess it’s something this cast likes to do. If you saw the pictures of Drew Barrymore and star Ellen Page doing the same thing in Marie Claire, you know what I’m talking about.
