Brad Pitt Joins Homers 'The Odessey'

Warner Bros has once again snagged Brad Pitt to star in yet another film based on the Greek poet's story 'The Odessey'. This will be the second time Pitt has starred in one of these famous Greek stories. He also starred in 'Troy' based on Homer's epic poem 'The Iliad'. Here is where it takes a turn for the Sci-fi. Variety reports:

Their intention is to transfer the tale to a futuristic setting in outer space.

Wwhhaaaaaaaa? Ok.

Warner Bros. has quietly set up "The Odyssey," and the early hope is that Pitt will star and Miller will direct, with Pitt's Plan B producing. Pitt played Achilles in the Wolfgang Petersen-directed "Troy," a global blockbuster that David Benioff adapted from "The Iliad."

Both Homer poems dealt with the Trojan War; "The Odyssey" focused on the exploits of Odysseus, who hatched the idea to build the Trojan Horse. "The Odyssey" deals with his long journey home after he declines to become a god.

A journey home into space? So in a way this is some kind of crazy sci-fi sequel. This is going to turn out to be a really interesting project. What do you think?

Hi,

In the 80s, we had a franco-japanise anime broadcasted in France, calle Ulysse 31, which was well... exactly "the long journey of Odysseus in Space (with a lightsaber)"... It was for kids but really a cool scifi TV show.
