Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein "an adventure story"

by Joey Paur

Guillermo del Toro recently talked about some of his upcoming projects at the Directors Guild of America in New York. As you may or may not know del Toro is a huge fan of the Frankenstein Monster and it seems like he is very excited to be making a Frankenstein movie. According to what he said in New York we find that he is not going to be making the Frankenstein movie we all think he is going to make. Here is what he say's:

"I'm not doing 'Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.' I'm doing an adventure story that involves the creature. I cannot say much, but it's not the central creation story, I'm not worried about that. The fact is I've been dreaming of doing a 'Frankenstein' movie since I was a child. The one thing I can promise is, compared to Kenneth Branagh, I will not appear shirtless in the movie!"

So his Frankenstein film is going to be a adventure story. I have no problems at all with him not making the Mary Shelly version, although I was kind of looking forward to what his take would be on it. I have no doubt he will able to pull this feat off. del Toro has such an incredible imagination and I think he is going to make an amazing monster movie.
