Confirmation from Marvel President! Captain Americas Shield in the background of Iron Man movie!

by Joey Paur

UPDATE from President of Marvel Kevin Fiegn:

Feige confirmed that it is definitely the Captain America shield that was seen in IRON MAN on Tony Stark's work-station as he's removing his suit for the first time.  It's just an Easter Egg and probably won't have anything to do with the Capt. America story.

So there ya go. We Told you!

Ok this is pretty geeky. I know we all love to find easter eggs in movies that make us shout for joy and go crazy. So you all tell me what you think of this. There are a couple web sites that have pointed this out.

Do you see it? Look under Starks arm pit... Still having trouble? Well here...

There it's circled for you now. Is that what you think it is? Is that what I think it is? Is that what everyone else thinks it is?! I dont know. Are we seeing what are are supposed to be seeing, or is it our overly exaggerated imaginations at work here? Are we making it up in our head because it's what we want to believe? Remember a few years ago and the Leprechaun spotted in a tree in Alabama a few years back?

Is this mass hysteria? Or did the filmmakers throw that in there as a nod to the real American hero? Here is an explination I've found:

The shield is actually red, white, and blue, although you can't see the red in the photo. But if you see the scene in the theater, the shield is actually there and very identifiable. It looks like it is half-constructed and being built by Tony Stark, but you can definitely see the unique star. It is a round shield with circular red, white, and blue stripes. What does this mean?

Apparently Captain America was actually given his round shield from the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization when he was found in modern times, which could make sense in this universe. Maybe Tony Stark has been building a shield, for whatever reasons, and eventually S.H.I.E.L.D., who was revealed at the end of the movie, will find out about it at a future point and suggest they give it to Captain America for his use. And this means maybe it will involve some sort of awesome Tony Stark technology instead of just being a metal object he throws around. How about that for a concept?

This is just one geeks interpretation over at firstshowing.net. Another website suggests that the shield wasn't even added until the movie hit theaters which is why you don't see it in the exact same shot from the trailers of the movie. You can read that right HERE.

Whatever the case may be I am sure it will be put in the X-files. I would like to think that it is Captain Americas shield. But it just doesn't make sense to me why Stark would be working on it right now. Maybe it doesn't need to make sence. Maybe... just maybe it is what we think it is. I don't know. What do you all think?

Final Analysis

We here at Geektyrant believe that what we see is Captain Americas Shield!! Tony Starks father created weapons during World War II. He was the one that created the shield! or possibly obtained it during that time. Which is why Tony has it in the first place. Why did Tony Stark have it out on his work table? As a reference for the suit he was building of course. In my opinion parts of the suit are made out of the same metal that the shield was made from. So there you have it folks! If you don't believe it you don't have to but its obvious that Marvel is connecting all of their characters together in this world to give the fans what they want. These are things they want us to catch, things they hope the fans spot. If we don't spot them where is the extra fun. I also want to point out that the shield was not there in the preview of the movie. Which means they did add it in post-production. Why would they do that? Because it is the Shield people!
