Looks like Ridley Scott will return to Sci-Fi with 'Brave New World'!

by Joey Paur

Yesterday news broke that Ridley Scott was looking to get back into Sci-fi. This is incredibly exciteing becuase he made one of the greatest Sci-fi movies of our time 'Blade Runner'. It will be awesome to see him work his magic again in this genra. He wouldn't give any details on what he was doing, just that he has been waiting 20 years for the book he wants to do the movie on to become available and it looks like it has. The Book is called 'Brave New world' and its about:

"Community, Identity, Stability" is the motto of Aldous Huxley's utopian World State. Here everyone consumes daily grams of soma, to fight depression, babies are born in laboratories, and the most popular form of entertainment is a "Feelie," a movie that stimulates the senses of sight, hearing, and touch. Though there is no violence and everyone is provided for, Bernard Marx feels something is missing and senses his relationship with a young women has the potential to be much more than the confines of their existence allow. Huxley foreshadowed many of the practices and gadgets we take for granted today--let's hope the sterility and absence of individuality he predicted aren't yet to come.

Sound like a great vehicle for Scott to drive. This isn't 100% certain but about a couple months ago the L.A. Times published this:

"a movie of 'Brave New World' is in the works, produced by George DiCaprio and starring his son, Leonardo, directed by Ridley Scott with a screenplay by Andrew Nicholls."

So it makes sense that this could be it. It will be nice to see Scott go back to his roots. His last couple of film have been ok but not great. This could be great.
