Tobey Maguire Joins 'The Crusader's'!

by Joey Paur

Venkman here with a bit of film casting news. Tobey Maguire is set to star in a movie called 'The Crusader's' that is being made over at Universal. This is a drama about the landmark 1954 Brown V. Board of Education case. I think Tobey is a great actor and I am happy to see he is streaching his legs a bit. He seems like he is board of playing Peter Parker and Spiderman. I will be shocked if he signs up for the 4th. But here is what is is going on with 'The Crusdaers' according to Variety:
Maguire would play Jack Greenberg, who, as an idealistic lawyer fresh out of law school, joined with NAACP Legal Defense Fund head and future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall to win a Supreme Court case that ruled segregation in American schools illegal.

There is a big story behind the history of these events and it should end up being a very strong film. Gary Ross is set to direct the film. Gary and Tobey worked together on both 'Pleasantville' and 'Seabiscuit'. Both films were very good so it looks like we will have another winner. Danny Strong is set up to write the script.

I think every good actor needs to play a lawyer in their career at least once.
