Holy Hell! THE GOONIES Part 2!?

by Joey Paur

Venkman here with some crazy news. I am not sure if this is exciting news or bad news. There have been rumors for YEARS regarding a sequel to one of our favorite movies of all time 'The Goonies'. There was even a script floating around Hollywood for awhile about a group of news kids that were the sons and daughters of the original characters, but it just seemed to vanish into the black hole of Hollywood.

Well Moviehole is reporting that a sequel is going to happen! Here is what they say:

A very, very, very good source - if I revealed his name, you'd know straight away this was a solid bit of news - informed me a few days ago that "the sequel Corey Feldman has been telling media will never happen", one "Goonies 2", is indeed... happening.

So what have I been told? well, Warner Bros are finally going to give it the respect it deserves - this will be a large-scale theatrical release.. a tentpole. It will not be a direct-to-video release.

(A source at Warner Bros has since confirmed this - saying they are developing it as a major movie, but won't share anything other than that. Nothing we didn't already know though)

Warner Bros. wants to do it as a huge tenpole film! Thats awesome! I want to be so excited for this, but what if they end up making a sequel that sucks ass like what they did with Indiana Jones. This is a classic film, a movie we all grew up with and loved. If they screw this up there will be hell to pay! If they can't bring back the magic that the first movie has, then they shouldn't do it at all.

They have brought in writers, but there is no information on what it is going to be about or who is going to be involved. I know at one point most of the original cast was good to go on a sequel. I am excited to see how this Goonies 2 news all plays out. It will either start to grow and get bigger or it is going to once again vanish into the abyss of Hollywood.

What do you all think? Should th WB movie forward with a sequel to Goonies? Or should they leave well enough alone? I have to admit I have always wanted to see what happened to these characters after all these years.
