Venkman here and it looks like Sony Pictures is moving forward with it 'Flash Gordon' film project. Sony went ahead and are paying a couple guys to write the screenplay. The names of these writers are Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. THR Reaports:

"Flash Gordon" centers on the titular young polo player who is kidnapped and taken to the distant planet Mongo, where he and companions Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov embark on a series of adventures fighting a ruler named Ming the Merciless.

The movie is set to be filmed as a live action flick. Throughout the years 'Flash Gordon' has done movies, and TV. The most recent being what the Sci-Fi channel did with it. I think its time to be done in a great way though. With the right script, the right budget, a creative director, we could possibly see a really cool 'Flash Gordon flick. Breck Eisner is set to direct the movie he directed 'Sahara' so lets hope he can get a little more creative with this. He is currently directing 'Creature from the Black Lagoon', so lets see how that turns out before we start bashing him as a director.

It would be great to see a cool retro 'Flash Gordon' movie, especially with the technology we have today it could look amazing. But, story is still key.
