What Movie are you going to see this Weekend? 1/30

Hey gang! Another weekend is upon us and with that comes a new batch of movies to go out and see. There are a couple of movies that look like they could be pretty good. At the top of my list is Liam Neeson's 'Taken' it just looks like it has all the makings of a good intense action thriller. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I have high expectations for it.

Taken

Cast: Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen

Liam Neeson stars in this action-packed international thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. When his estranged daughter is kidnapped in Paris, a former spy (Liam Neeson) sets out to find her at any cost. Relying on his special skills, he tracks down the ruthless gang that abducted her and launches a one-man war to bring them to justice and rescue his daughter.



This movie looks awesome and Liam Neeson looks badass. This will be the first movie I hit up this weekend.

New In Town

Cast: Renée Zellweger, Harry Connick Jr., Siobhan Fallon Hogan

A high-powered consultant in love with her upscale Miami lifestyle is sent to a middle of nowhere town in Minnesota to oversee the restructuring of a blue collar manufacturing plant. After enduring a frosty reception from the locals, icy roads and freezing weather, she warms up to the small town's charm, and eventually finds herself being accepted by the community. When she's ordered to close down the plant and put the entire community out of work, she's forced to reconsider her goals and priorities, and finds a way to save the town.



Yeah this one isn't for me, but maybe some of the ladies out there will want to check it out, but maybe not. It doesn't look that good.

The Uninvited

Cast: Elizabeth Banks, Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel

Based on Kim Jee-Woon's 2003 Korean horror film, "Changhwa Hongryon," The Uninvited revolves around Anna (Emily Browning), who returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathairn) has become engaged to her mother's former nurse, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks). That night, Anna is visited by her mother's ghost, who warns her of Rachel's intentions. Together, Anna and her sister (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their father that his current fiancee is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother.



This looks like it might be ok, if I find the time I may check it out.

Serbis - Limited

Cast: Gina Pareño, Dan Alvaro, Mercedes Cabral

Serbis, from acclaimed Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, is about the Pineda family, who operates and lives in a run-down movie house that shows dated sexy double-feature films. As they go about their daily activities, we get a glimpse of how the family suffers and deals with each other’s sins and vices. Preoccupied with their own personal demons, they are unmindful that inside their movie theater another kind of business is going on between the “serbis” boys (male prostitutes) and the gay patrons.



The movie looks interesting, it is going limited if I come across it on DVD I might rent it.

The Class - Limited

Cast: François Bégaudeau, Esmeralda Ouertani, Rachel Regulier

François and his fellow teachers prepare for a new year at a high school in a tough neighborhood. Armed with the best intentions, they brace themselves to not let discouragement stop them from trying to give the best education to their students. Cultures and attitudes often clash in the classroom, a microcosm of contemporary France. As amusing and inspiring as the teen-aged students can be, their difficult behavior can still jeopardize any teacher's enthusiasm for the low-paying job.

François insists on an atmosphere of respect and diligence. Neither stuffy nor severe, his extravagant frankness often takes the students by surprise. But his classroom ethics are put to the test when his students begin to challenge his methods...



This movie looks like the French version of every American made movie about a teacher that teaches in a slum school who plans to change everything around and make the kids care about learning again.
