Sam Raimi has set up new movie banner under his Ghost House production company called Spooky Pictures. Spooky Pictures is being set up to develop family friendly horror films and thrillers. As you know Guillermo del Toro has recently teamed up with Disney and created Double Dare You to make family friendly animated horror films. These will be horror films that don't rely on blood, gore and sex to get peoples attention. I think this is a good thing for the industry. They will have to rely more creativity and story than blood and boobies.

The film being developed over at Spooky Pictures is called The Subsititue, which is a remake of a Danish thriller. The movie is going to be directed by Scott Derrickson who also made The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day the Earth Stood Still. The movie revolves around a terrified sixth-grade class as the students race to reveal to their parents that their new substitute teacher is an evil alien being. Like The Faculty? Well, I guess we can scratch out any originality... for now. It might come later.

Raimi and Rob Tapert ("The Grudge" series and "30 Days of Night") will serve as producers of the Substitute remake through Spooky, while Russell Hollander and Nathan Kahane will serve as executive producers.

Here is the trailer for the original film. It looks like a good movie. What do you all think?
