Presto-Chinese

Here's a little taste of the bazar thanks to our friends at /Film. Like the knock off Fruit Loops in the cereal aisle, this may have the same basic flavors... but it's NOT the same at all. Here's a Chinese remake of the Pixar short film Presto. The remake is nearly shot for shot like the orginal -- most notably replacing the mouse trap with a frog(I guess China doesn't use mouse traps?).

Although it is solidly mimicked, the subtle nuances in expression and fluidity are so non-existent, it hurts. It just makes me appreciate Pixar more than I already do. Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich tweeted of the remake:

Here's a side by side comparison that will make you throw up in your mouth a little:

Like many others have expressed, we speculate that this is a student effort to learn by imitating the superiorly crafted work. But as of yet, it is unknown what the inspiration or motivations were behind this.

The Brazilian Ratatouille and Cars knock offs below are less erie and more hilariously laughable... but their motivations are more understandable.
