NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS Casts Mos Def and Bill Moseley

Movie Casting by Joey Paur

Night of the living dead

We reported a few months ago that Night of the Living Dead was going to get a CGI 3D reboot from first time feature director Zebediah de Soto. This will happen without the involvement of George Romero, which might be a good thing cause I think he may have lost his touch. Personally I think the project could end up being pretty cool, I'm a huge zombie fan and I am interested to see what the style turns out like.

Bloody-Disgusting recently talked to actress Danielle Harris who revealed that both Mos Def and Bill Moseley have joined the voice cast of Zeb de Soto's Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. Moseley will be playing Johnny, the same role he took on in Tom Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Joseph Pilato, Mike Diskint and Helen Cooper also star.

On the story front, De Soto, who wrote the script with David R. Schwartz, wants to update the tale partially by bringing out the characters’ backstories and make what he called “an American-style anime.”

I'm excited to see this new CGI technology in zombified action, it's obvious they are using Night of the Living Dead because it's well known title -- it's better for marketing purposes, which is probably why they didn't go with something more original. Even though we've seen Night of the Living Dead done to death, we haven’t seen it in 3D CGI.

What do you all think about this new zombie project?
