Update on THE CROW reboot : Script, Casting and Make-up
It seems like many of our readers are not happy at all about the fact that The Crow is getting a movie reboot. The filmmakers are very adamant in telling us that the film is not going to be a remake but rather a re-launch.
Producer Ryan Kavanaugh revealed to io9 during an interview what is planned for this reinvention of The Crow.
On the script:
The script is great. We're very excited about it. The Crow is definitely going to happen, we're just getting all the pieces together right now. It's not officially greenlit, but it's going to happen... I think in a couple months we could have the package together for sure.
Yeah we're still tweaking it, but it's finished.
On Casting:
Can't talk about that yet, but we've got good ideas. We're looking. We're in discussions....I think it's something cool, we're approaching it differently. It's really a whole relaunch of the franchise, much more of a dark superhero type. It will be an actor you've heard of, yes. We're not ruling anything out. We're looking at both, with the very well known and the "very talented but they may not be quite there yet."
It seems like he's kind of all over the place there on the casting doesn't it?
On if the make-up will be the same:
No, totally different... He'll have makeup, but it will be different. The best way to compare it is the first Batman and Batman Begins. In terms of their look and feel and character.
How will hardcore fans feel knowing that the make-up wont be the same?
On the world the story is set in.
Oh yeah, we're sticking to the flavor of it. We're just relaunching it and making it with a much more present day character, someone more relatable to everybody.
In the original comic, a man brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée's murder.
It would be cool if it turned out being a decent film, but I'm not going to hold my breath. It will be interesting when we actually start seeing stuff from the production.
