Owen Wilson will voice MARMADUKE in Fox's Live-Action/CG adaptation

Owen Wilson will voice the rascally great dane in the title role of Fox's live-action/CG movie adaptation of the long-running comic strip Marmaduke.

Originally created by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming in 1954, and adapted for the screen by License to Wed scribes Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio, the film follows a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke, a slobbery pooch who creates chaos wherever he goes. While in the O.C., Marmaduke must navigate a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace.

The family comedy will reunite Wilson with his Shanghai Noon director Tom Dey(Failure To Launch). Wilson will join the voice cast of Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans and Marlon Wayans, and star opposite Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy as live-action humans.

Producing the pic is John Davis, who was also behind both live-action/CG adaptations of the comic-strip Garfield-- which starred Wilson's Fantastic Mr. Fox voice co-star Bill Murray as the the lasagna-loving cat. Let's hope Wilson's turn as a comic-strip animal turns out better. What do you think of a live-action/CG adaptation of Marmaduke?

Marmaduke is set for a June 2010 release date.
