Natalie Portman Cast in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES
This little bit of casting news should please a lot of people. Natalie Portman will star in and produce the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
The book, which was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, is an expanded version of the the Jane Austen classic. It tells the story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.
Portman will obviously play the lead role in the film as the heroine of the story, Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.
Lionsgate will finance and distribute the movie. Producer Annette Savith told Variety:
Natalie and I are longtime passionate fans of Jane Austen’s books and this a fresh, fun and thought-provoking way to approach her work. The idea of zombies running rampant in 19th Century England may sound odd, but it lends a modern sense of urgency to a well known love story.
Portman is perfect for this movie and the role! Not only is she absolutely beautiful but she is an amazing actress. I don't know if you saw her latest film Brothers yet but once again she gave a great performance.
