AVATAR is Everything James Cameron Promised and More!

There has been a ton of hype surrounding James Cameron’s Avatar, the reviews have all been extremely positive; the film has even been nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes for crying-out-loud! People are loving this movie! Does the movie live up to everything you’ve been hearing? Hell yes it does!

Avatar is everything James Cameron promised it to be and more. The movie absolutely blew me away! I loved it! After 10 years of living in the ocean James Cameron comes back and delivers us one of the most epic movies ever made. This guy is a brilliant filmmaker and I will never doubt him and his movies again. The guy has proved time and time again that he knows what he’s doing when making movies, and with Avatar he took it to a whole new level of filmmaking insanity. Cameron has truly changed the way we see movies, just like he said he would.

Not since Star Wars have wee seen a completely original world brought to life in such a huge and movie changing way. Avatar is the Star Wars of this generation. Not since The Lord of the Rings trilogy have weseen anything so epically huge and mind blowing! After The Lord of the Rings trilogy ended I wondered if we would ever see a movie on such an epic scale like that again, and James Cameron is the guy that pulled it off. Now my question is, when will we see a movie that can live up to the standards that Cameron set with Avatar? He may have to out-do himself.

The story is fantastic, it’s 100% solid. When paraplegic Marine Jake Sully’s brother is killed he decides to take his place in a unique mission on the planet of Pandora. While he is there he finds out the mission is to help drive off the Na’vi aliens that inhabit the world in order to mine for a precious mineral that is buried in their planet. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by the bad-ass Colonel Quaritch. He is able to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an avatar body. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe he falls in love with the one of the Na’vi women, Neytiri. The Colonel becomes frustrated with Jake and decides to move forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing Jake to take a stand and fight back in an extremely epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Cameron tells this story beautifully with the use of the incredible technology that was created to make this movie. I seriously couldn’t tell that I was watching a CGI animated movie. These aliens looked so damn real! It was like they got 10 foot tall actors and did some great freakin make-up effects! This is the best CGI work I have ever seen. Nothing comes close to it. The CGI characters and creatures in the film moved so fluidly, there was no awkwardness with it besides that fact that they aren’t human. One of the most incredible things about this movie was the emotions that the CGI characters were able to portray. You felt the soul in these characters. I seriously can’t wait for you to see what I am talking about in regards to how amazing the CGI is.

The performances of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver were fantastic, and there performance shined through the CGI characters they played as well. Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quartich was incredibly bad-ass! He was awesome playing this hardcore and insane military leader. He was definitely one of the most fun characters to watch in the film. Michelle Rodriguez and Giovanni Ribisi also did a great job. Every performance in Avatar was amazing, CGI or not.

I don’t want to go into any spoilers for the film, I want you to see the greatness of this movie for yourself and I want to leave the surprises for you. But I have to tell you that there is a battle sequence at the end of the movie that is seriously epic in everyway possible! Like I said earlier, not since The Lord of the Rings have you seen anything this big.

Now I went out and saw the film in IMAX 3D and I strongly suggest you see it in this format if you can. This movie was meant to be seen in IMAX 3D. If you don’t or can’t then I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m sure the movie will be just as good. Speaking of 3D, it was the best 3D movie ever. There are never any 3D gimmicks used, he just used it to enhance the story even more and it worked.

Avatar is definitely going to be on my top 10 list of best movies for 2009. I strongly recommend you go out and see this movie. I have a felling you going to love it. I can’t wait to see Cameron’s next film!

If you’ve already seen the movie let us know what you thought!
