It was only a matter of time until a studio would come around and make a 3-D comic book movie. The 3-D film will be based on Top Cow's comic book 'Aphrodite IX'. Other studios involved in the production are Threshold Entertainment and Platinum Studios. THR reports:
Threshold's Larry Kasanoff and Platinum chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg are producing. Top Cow CEO Marc Silvestri and former Universal Pictures exec Randy Greenberg of the Greenberg Group are execu¬tive producers. Top Cow president Matt Hawkins and Platinum's Rich Marincic are co-producing.
"This is just the kind of franchise we love: a visually stunning world, amazing effects, a great story and a hot, kick-ass babe in the lead," Kasanoff said. "What could be better?"
'Aphrodite IX' was written by David Wohl and drawn by artist David Finch. The story is about a female android named Aphrodite IX who suffers from amnesia shortly after being sent on undercover missions. This leads to ongoing confusion about what she does and for whom, exacerbated by subsequent episodes of amnesia. Although she becomes aware that she is intended as an assassin, she finds the idea increasingly distasteful and experiences dreams and desires like a human. This begins to undermine her morale but not her efficiency, as her conditioning takes over as her masters or survival circumstances require. When she seeks out clues to her past and true identity, she stumbles onto a conspiracy involving a secret society of cyborgs attempting to undermine the legitimate government.
I love these kinds of stories and the film has a pretty solid team behind it, this could end up being something very cool. Is this something you are looking forward to?
