Both DreamWorks and Universal have been flirting with each other since Dreamworks broke up with Paramount, but from the looks of things it doesn't look like they are going to go steady anytime soon. I guess Universal wasn't cute enough for them because they are now hanging out over at Disney's house trying to get their game on.  Here is what the trades are reporting:

Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks SKG production company is in talks with The Walt Disney Co. on a deal to distribute six movies a year as talks have broken down between it and Universal Pictures, a person familiar with the situation said Friday.

The person, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter, spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was not finalized.

The talks came as Universal, a unit of General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal, said in a statement it ended negotiations with DreamWorks on a distribution deal the two announced in October, saying Spielberg's company has "demanded material changes to previously agreed upon terms."

"It is clear that DreamWorks' needs and Universal's business interests are no longer in alignment," Universal said.

DreamWorks SKG had agreed to the deal with Universal after the production house parted ways with Viacom Inc. subsidiary Paramount Pictures, which previously distributed DreamWorks' films.

Spielberg's offices continue to reside on the Universal Pictures lot.

A spokeswoman from Disney did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

Burbank, Calif.-based Disney is seen as motivated to bolster its movie lineup after its studio revenue fell 26 percent to $1.95 billion in the quarter to December, outpacing declines in other businesses.

Well, what can you do, sometimes studios break up to try something new, they end up not enjoying themselves as much as they thought, so they try to get back together with their old flame. There was still some tension, and they tried to work through it, but ultimately it was best to part ways and head on over to Disney's house to see if they can get some action while they are on the rebound. Guess we'll see what happens.
