'Monster Attack Network' is a graphic novel developed by Marc Bernardine, Adam Freeman, and Nima Sorat illustrated it. The rights to the comic book were picked up Walt Disney Studios and they brought Andy Fickman in to direct it. Andy Fickman recently directed 'Race to Witch Mountain' which hit theaters this weekend.  Personally I don't really care for Fickman's directing style if there is even a style to it. With movies like 'She's The Man' and 'The Game Plan' this guy should be directing stuff for the Disney Channel.

Disney also brought in a couple of no name writers Scott Elder and Josh Harmon to write the script. These guys only have one episode of a TV show under their belt called 'The Secret Saturdays'. So this movie will most likely end up being something that should air on the Disney Channel. Variety reports:

The 2007 graphic novel focuses on a team of first-responders who guard the citizens of Lapuatu, a Pacific island that would be a paradise except for frequent attacks by giant monsters that rise from the sea.

Jason Netter is producing through his Kickstart banner. Disney views the film as a visual effects-heavy tentpole. built around an elite government agency's resolve to protect America's coasts from huge, rampaging monsters.

With "Witch Mountain" and "The Game Plan," Fickman has now delivered two family-flavored hits for Disney, both with Dwayne Johnson in the starring role.

So it is safe to say that Dwayne Johnson will star in this movie as well.
