DANTE'S INFERNO Game will Also Be Adapted into a Animated Film

by Joey Paur

Here is some great news for all you animation fans out there. There has been a lot of talk on this new movie coming out called 'Dante's Inferno' which will be based on the video game being developed that is based off of the classic poem 'The Divine Comedy'. Now it looks like we are going to get an animated movie out of this story as well. The game is being developed at EA Games and it looks like they are going to team up once again with Starz media for a second animated DVD feature. The first animated feature they did was 'Dead Space: Downfall' which was a prequel to the video game 'Dead Space'. It was a pretty cool animated flick. If you haven't seen it yet you should give it a go.

Joe Goyette has been brought on board to produce the film, he also produced 'Dead Space: Downfall'.  Joining the creative team on this project is Victor Cook as director who also worked on 'The Spectacular Spider-Man' and 'Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron'. Iron Man: Armored Adventures writer Brandon Auman will write the script.

'Inferno' will mirror the game's plot and follow Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell -- limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery, in search of his true love, Beatrice.

Executive producer on the the animated film Jonathan Knight says:

"The animated feature will be a great companion piece to the game. The feature will explore aspects of the poem that the game does not, and will provide more insight into the characters and the unique story adaptation that the game has established."

Game comes out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year, and is being developed at EA Redwood Shores.

I am excited for everything that is coming out of this classic story. We are going to get a great video game, a awesome live-action movie, and a sure to be amazing animated film. Everything a geek loves, now all we need is a toy line and we are set.

In case you missed the game trailer here it is!
