Will We See X-MEN:FIRST CLASS go into Franchise mode

by Joey Paur

It has been a long time since we have heard anything regarding this new X-Men: First Class movie being written for FOX by Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz. We have a little update for you today that comes from producer Lauren Shuler Donner who produced the first three X-Men movies, and the upcoming Wolverine flick. So she knows exactly what is going on with the X-Men franchise, she is in the trenches and here is what she says about X-Men: First Class:

"It is the first class of Xavier's school, way back when, so it's young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that'll be really fun. I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world.

"And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up."

It is really no surprise that they would want to turn First Class into a franchise, it is a great and fresh starting point for the X-Men franchise and one I wouldn't mind seeing developed as long as it's good. I wonder if it will end up being something along the same lines as the X-Men: Evolution cartoon. I just don't think they will go completely off of the comic book for X-Men: First Class I think they will take the opportunity to build the film up for a younger audience. Whatever the case is Fox needs to buckle down and finally put together an incredible X-Men movie. Could this be it? I hope so, but most likely not. What do you think?
