So we reported on a new film awhile back called 'Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse'. The last we heard the rights to the movie were picked up by Mandate Pictures and that the movie would star both Seth Rogan and Jay Baruchel, who starred in the original fake trailer for the film.

The movie is based on the short film written by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg who will both write and produce the feature film. The movie revolves around two guys that are dealing with the apocalypse. If you missed the trailer for this story check it out Here.

Since this announcement we haven't heard much about what is going on with the project. But today Jay Baruchel is happy to give an update. Here is what he tells MTV:

“They’re working on the ['Jay and Seth'] script right now. All the concepts are there, all the beats are there, the treatment is there and a movie with us in it—we’ll improvise half the thing anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Jay and Seth’ will at the very least happen in the next year and a half for sure."

So everything is falling into place and it looks like they will start shooting next year! So we have that to look forward too. As for why it is taking so long to get the film off the ground.

“Seth and Evan are working on ‘The Green Hornet’ right now, and that’s just a big, massive undertaking that’s taking up all their time and effort.”

Well there's that ,and there's the fact that Seth Rogan has got several other projects under his belt right now. He is one hell of a busy guy. Who would of thought he would have come this far from a little role he played in Donnie Darko? If you are always working at it and you don't give up, there is a better chance of succeeding. Thats my inspirational thought for the day.

So! After the Green Hornet is done, whats the plan?

“The minute [‘Hornet’] is finished, we go into production on one of two things. We’ll either do ‘Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse’ or we’ll do this hockey movie that Evan and I wrote called ‘The Goon.’”

I assume that 'The Goon' film  is not based on the comic book that is currently in production. He goes on to say:

“We’re putting the cast together [for ‘Goon’] as I speak. I’m not going to screw myself and say who but I’ll say that needless to say they’re famous. It’s a Canadian hockey movie. Whichever one is closer to going, we’ll do.”

So there you have it folks. Two comedies that will most likely be awesome are both going to be done. But which one will we see first? Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse or The Goon?
