MICHAEL SHEEN in talks to play BOND villain ernst blofeld

We reported last week that the 23rd James Bond film is currently in development. Daniel Craig will be back to reprise his role as Bond, and they recently added Peter Morgan, writer of  "Frost/Nixon" and "The Queen" to help write the screenplay. But now some casting rumors have begun. It is being reported that actor Michael Sheen, who just so happens to star in both "Frost" and "Queen", is currently in talks to play reoccurring Bond baddie Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Blofeld appeared in six Bond films, and was portrayed by many different actors. But it's been a long 28 year since his last appearance.

This could be an opportunity Sheen's been waiting for. An unknown source told UK's Daily Express Newspaper that...

Michael is hot property right now and it is felt that he's the right man to bring Blofeld back to life. Michael was a Bond fan in his youth, so this would be a dream role for him.

For those unfamiliar with Bond's deadliest foe, the often bald headed Blofeld is the sinister chieftain of the global criminal organization Spectre, and is never seen without his beloved white Persian cat. Sound familiar? That's probably because Mike Meyers based his "Austin Powers" villain Dr. Evil on Blofeld.

I'm hoping that the reports are true. I would love to see Sheen take on the Blofeld character. Even though we haven't exactly seen him play sinister, I think he could add more layers of depth to him. And hopefully take away a lot of the campiness that could be associated with a bald headed cat loving villain. Sheen last wrapped up shooting the teen phenomenon "Twilight Saga:New Moon", which is sure to make but loads of money. I'll be crossing my fingers that he doesn't lose some of his cred with that one.

How do you guys feel? Would you like to see Michael Sheen as Blofeld? Are you ready for another kick ass James Bond film? Shaken or stirred? Discuss!
